Frames for the original paintings can be identified as follows:

The earliest frames were hand made by the artist, plain unfinished softwood frames. Mostly late 1940's to the late 1950's.

In the late 1950's, he began purchasing frames from a Montreal company - Artistic Woodworkers.

These were professionally made and the first iteration had a shallow curved profile. Dates for these frames were approximately late 1950's to early 1960's.

The second mould has a more angular profile. This frame, also from Artistic Woodworkers, was used as early as 1963. This would become his signature frame for more than 30 years.

Last in the series are hand made by local craftsman Anton Voegele. Used optionally through the 1990's, with various finishes - whitewash, grey, etc.

Sizes of the early works are generally smaller, 12" x 18". In the 1960's standard sizes were 18" x 24", 20" x 24 and 24" x 30". The largest is 30" x 48".
